18 Inch Microfiber Mop Pads

I received this product for free to review.

Hey everyone. I was pretty excited to get these extra mop pads for my new mop, I mean who doesn't love extra mop pads? So when I got them I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Why? Well with these actually costing $1 more than the actual replacements directly from the company who I bought my mop from I expected some type of improvement. These seemed cheap. They were thinner and not as long as the originals either and being slightly rounded meant the corners of my mop actually stuck out over the mop pad. I measured it and it turns out these pads are actually 18 inches long, as is my mop base but the original pads are actually 20" long leaving some overhang. Despite my reservations I tried out the new pads the same way I normally clean my floor and it didn't feel the same. It was dragging and I had to work a lot harder to get it clean.

My normal method is spraying the floor with my favorite cleaner and then mopping it up. After contacting the company who made these, they informed me that these pads were made different than most microfiber pads and were actually meant to be used wetter. I tried that out and the pads did work better but my floors were left wet and I felt as if they weren't really clean, like I was just rubbing water over them and then leaving the dirty water on the floor instead of soaking it up. To make matters worse afterward I noticed another problem with the wet mop method. The adhesive that holds the Velcro strips on my mop started coming loose as it is not meant to be wet. Perhaps these are meant for a model of mop I don't have but in any case this time I think I will stick with the original mop pads and if I need extras I will buy them from there. If you would like to try these out yourselves you can pick them up here. Comment and let me know if they worked better for you.

  1. Personally, I would switch back to the old pads if I were in your position. I think they worked better. If you eventually find these new microfiber pads can clean your floors better and really wanted to use them, you might consider keeping some spare pads around to use during a final dry run or two.
