Peas and Hambone versus Flesh-Eating Zombie Gorillas by Todd Nicholas book review

OK I received this book free to review via tomoson.com.
I have been reading this to my kids every day whenever we get the time to, they are 4 and 5 years old and are just loving the story. It really seems like the author is able to realistically capture the mind of the ten year old main character. The book itself is action packed and doesn't dwell on the details like a story meant for adults tends to do which makes it fun and easy to want to keep reading. There is definitely some bathroom humor involved which the kids found silly once I explained to them what it meant (the one with two E's reference was a bit over their heads at first). Despite being a book about zombie gorillas trying to take over the world, it is not scary. Instead it just keeps getting funnier as the boy (Peas) and his trouble making talking dog (Hambone) keep trying to find a solution to the zombie problem and instead keep running into unhelpful adults and getting away based on dumb luck.
I honestly can't wait to find out how things work out, I think I'm just as caught up in the story as my kids are. Since I don't plan on giving away the ending anyway I'm publishing this review now with no spoilers. I will say if you have boys this is definitely something you should consider for their summer or recreational reading. It is a very cute book and very much suited for children the same age as the main character or even younger! You can find it here for your convenience.
Just had to update what a crazy twist ending. I love irony!

Adovia Mineral Eye Gel

This is another item I received for free to review via Tomoson.com. I applied for this review mostly because I get very dark circles under my eyes and putting makeup over that usually just compounds the problem. As soon as it arrived yesterday I put some on, it felt nice, not greasy like I was worried about. I walked away of course assuming that I would need to use this for quite awhile before seeing any results. I had actually received some mascara yesterday as well and about 15 minutes later I went to go try some of that on and I was floored, the circles were much lighter. Of course stupid me I didn't take any before pictures because I didn't think one application would do anything but I'm going to see if I can grab a screen shot from the video I did just before I used it.

I took some after photos later in the day as well.

Now from the info I received its supposed to help get rid of puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles. The actual box only mentions the latter two.

It comes in a very nice frosted glass jar that has enough heft as to suggest quality which is good because at 36 dollars a jar for 30 mls it cost over a dollar a ml (for some reason our minds connect weight to quality and lighter items are viewed as cheap)
This morning I got up and my eyes were very puffy. This is normal for me and tends to stay that way for a few hours before it calms down and reverts into the dark circles. I normally do nothing about this but considering I have this gel I snapped a photo.
I then applied a small amount of the gel around my eyes, brushed my teeth and took another picture

as you can see the puffiness almost completely went away. In just two minutes?? Kinda crazy. Its been about 20 minutes now so I'm going to take another photo  wow keep in mind this is still early in the morning I've been awake about a half hour and my eyes aren't puffy, I'm also not seeing the dark circles come back like they usually do (think kind of junkie or vampire eyes lol) I'm impressed. I'll be back later in the afternoon with another shot of my eyes to see if this keeps working through the day. (Photo) Based in the results I'm getting so far, I'm sold. I normally don't use potions lotions gels or even much makeup but I'm starting to see why people do.
OK so while we wait for the day to pass, let me tell you a bit about what's in this "Mineral Eye Gel"
as you can see there is very little unpronounceable ingredients other than that you have water, PG, a slew of natural ingredients most of which are oils, then it's got the stuff that's in Pantene, some menthol, aloe and of course dead sea salt which is actually the only "mineral" I notice. Even the water they use is demineralized. It also says it has vitamin E so I'll have to assume that is one of the unpronounceable ingredients. It also says there is a fragrance added (smells basically like lotion) and while I question the purpose and intelligence behind putting a scent in an eye cream (eyes are above the nose after all and not often sniffed) I haven't noticed any ill effects as a result.
OK so I forgot to take a picture yesterday so I did it again today
I am not sure how well it translates to photos but I'm happy with it. Keep in mind this is actually the first eye cream I've ever used but I am impressed with it, you really use very little, its easy to get on and the most obvious thing it does is reducing puffiness.

Exelerol Brain health supplement and giveaway (closed)

So I just got this product again free to review via tomoson.com. I signed up for it because hey, if it improves my memory and focus then I really, really need this. I forget what I'm saying mid sentence and wonder what I'm doing in the kitchen before realizing I was supposed to be going to the bathroom. Seriously any help I can get, I'm in. I finally received it today (Monday) 2 days late thanks to a fed ex driver being too lazy to actually enter my apartment complex and instead writing it off as an attempted delivery, twice! After some major complaining they ended up dropping it off at my apartments office so at least I got it, right? Now this has no bearing on the company that makes it or even on Amazon who carries is because FedEx isn't always that bad I only mention it because its the whole experience.
I get the package home along with my other goodies that thankfully didn't come from FedEx, and opened it up. Inside was what looks like a sales display for it full of individual boxes 12 to be exact
Each box has 6 pills inside along with a card from the company explaining how if you review it on amazon you can get a 10$ credit towards more which a few people apparently thought was shady but let's face it, its just smart marketing. They sell their wares on amazon and one of the reasons people shop there is because they can see what others have thought about it, also people are more likely to repurchase a product if they can get a deal on it so yeah double whammy.
There was another card inside with instructions on how to use the supplement, what's in it, and why.

as well as some interesting factoids printed inside the box
Now the individual box idea is fantastic! I mean it's for people who get distracted easily, are forgetful and would like help with that so it only makes sense that you can have a box in your purse or car or desk or briefcase so you can take it when you need it (or when you find it lol)

Inside the individual box is a 2+ days supply with a dividing line in the middle to make it easier to keep track on how many you've taken so it really seems like they understand their target audience well and have gone above and beyond to make it easy to use.
I took one right away and honestly haven't felt or noticed anything yet but that's kind of a good thing as it does not seem to be loaded up with caffeine or anything. On the other hand I have gotten a lot done this evening... Not sure if that's related or not just like I said the whole experience, be back in the AM with more.

OK so its day three and I have been super productive. It is the supplement. I can tell because when it wears off I start getting a tad aggravated at my tasks, its not so easy to just keep going full tilt anymore and well, in general I feel like I have to think a little harder. Now as for what I feel as its working, nothing really. I don't feel it doing anything. I am just more focused, harder working, and thoughts come a little bit easier. Things just flow. I kind of like it. Its not like taking a Ritalin for example where you can get so absorbed in what you are doing its like having tunnel vision. Its more like its helping me to not get distracted as easily and being able to focus myself on what I am doing, I noticed the pill itself leave a kind of peppermint taste in your mouth and there is definitely some cooling involved. Not sure its relevant but it is just an observation. Furthermore I am doing a giveaway so you can have a chance to try it for yourself without having to buy it.
OK in order to enter, I'm going to ask that you follow me on Twitter Subscribe to me on YouTube and comment below to be entered. I will pick the winner on July 18th.

Covergirl bombshell curvatious by lashblast

So I got this one for free in my influenster surfs up vox box its kind of interesting for the fact that there are 2 mascaras in one and since they come in 2 different tubs it might even be 2 different formulas though I'm not sure.
As you can see the 2 brushes are very different from each other. #1 is kind of a spikey rubber thing #2 is more like you're typical mascara brush
I used them in order 1 and then 2 and while from a distance it looks great, up close its kind of clumpy and it doesn't really feel like the second brush is adding anything.
The left eye was done in the backwards order, the right eye in the correct order, it seems to work best if you use the second brush first.
Again I got this product free by being an influenster ;-)  hope my review helps!

Kiss Me Organics Organic Matcha culinary grade green tea powder

*I received this product at no cost for the purpose of this review via tomoson and kiss me organics. This does not change my opinion but as it may change yours I wanted to get it out up front so as to not waste anyone's time. Thank you*
OK so just to have my full experience in writing I applied to review this green tea powder and got a response surprisingly quickly. I was sent a code to order this at no cost on Amazon.com along with the link to find it and a picture of the product in question. I was asked only to try it and to write my honest opinion here on my blog for you and if I chose to share it anywhere else well that is my decision. I ordered it easily and as always is my experience with Amazon I received my package in just 2 days via UPS sure post so I didn't even have to be at home waiting around for it. The price on amazon is $25.00 USD with free prime shipping for 4 oz. After ordering I took my time to read the reviews most of which are very positive. There are a few negative reviews but it mostly seems as if they did not notice this is culinary grade Matcha and not ceremonial grade. Also several of them were not amazon verified purchases which is strange considering by their own admission the product is only available on Amazon. I did learn quite a bit about Matcha in general by reading the reviews so that was quite the experience. OK so it seems the standards for good Matcha are the color should be very bright green and my package certainly was. The powder should be very fine and it definitely is. It should be sweet and not bitter and with my experience this has varied depending on the concentration of the product. In pure powder form it is not bitter it has almost the taste of grass seed stems. When I had made a paste out of it using 2 teaspoons of water to 1teaspoon of the Matcha powder it was very bitter, but after adding the sierra mist to it the bitterness went away entirely and it ended up tasting like watermelon or like the smell of cut grass which I much prefer to the taste of green tea myself. That and the fact that it says on the package that this has way more antioxidants than brewed green tea it so far seems like a winner in my book. Also while being a very high price for 4 oz of powder it is actually a very low price for Matcha, which apparently typically runs about 4 times higher. The drink I made with it was a thrown together variation on one of the recipes in the e book that comes with the product. I used sierra mist instead of seltzer and lime.

My spam filter may have eaten my copy as I never actually received it but it was easy enough to Google it and find it online for free. I do wish it came with a actual paper version in case you wanted to have it on hand all the time but hey, they are saving trees doing it this way so no fault there at all. You can download it here    if you'd like to check it out yourself go see what you can do with this before buying it.
Its been about an hour since I drank my glass of it right now and I do feel considerably more awake than I did when I drank it. I don't feel wired or bursting with energy by any means but my headache has gone away and I don't feel as disoriented as I did I'll come back and update this later today.

OK so I did come back and update this, and I tried grabbing some links for y'all and then suddenly everything I had typed in my update disappeared. So I will re write it now as close as I can to how it was then.

OK so today has actually been pretty great! About an hour after drinking the Matcha infused sierra mist my "I didn't get enough sleep headache" was gone, around the 3 hour mark I found myself chasing my kids around the house, having tickle fights with them just being happy and active and feeling not artificially awake like coffee makes you but like I had really had a good nights sleep (which I did not) and had a good breakfast (another one that didn't really happen) This was way different from how days that start out like this one did usually end up. Normally if I haven't gotten enough sleep I'm in a crabby mood all day, trying to just get awake which hits its pinnacle around 4pm when I literally want nothing but silence and for my headache to go away. I was shocked that this actually made me feel better, with just one glass. The taste was not bad either. I can definitely imagine myself finishing off this bag and then ordering more when I'm out, provided these benefits don't go away with extended use. All in all if I had bought this with my own money I think it would have been worth it just for that one awesome day with my kids. Its the next morning and I've just had another glass, this time with orange juice, I like the taste better with the sierra mist but it still goes down the same plus it took away my headache and cleared my head enough to enable me to write this.
